This is a Ketya Ahimsa/Peace Silk & Matka Ahimsa Silk Fabric in its natural hue that has been crafted by handweaving together Matka silk yarns along warp & ketya silk along weft. Mediumweight and soft, this textile is ideal for dresses, casual shirts, blouses, kidswear as well as homeware like pillow or cushion covers. Made of 100% natural material, it is sustainable and hypoallergenic.

Ketya Silk Is A Fabric Native To The Indian State Of West Bengal. It Has A Unique And Coarse Tactile Textue Due To Varieties Of Yarns Like Matka, Khadi, Tussar Being Woven Into The Raw Coarse Fabric. Anuprerna works with one Ketya silk artisan cluster in West Bengal , India.

Dry clean or hand wash in lukewarm water and mild liquid detergents like Ivory or Crystal White (suitable for hand washing dishes). Rinse well and add vinegar to the last rinse if your water is hard. Air dry in shade or tumble dry on low heat. Do not over dry. For an extra sheen, iron dry from the almost dry - barely damp state, using a medium iron setting.

A nice smooth fabric in the right colour with a bit of lustre which I'll use for something, but not the textured "raw silk" tussah I was hoping for. It is more the weight of a cotton lawn.
