KHADI FABRICS

wash/care instructions for khadi fabric

Khadi fabric is lighter, softer with high breathability than machine made cotton. It has a textural beauty due to the handspun nature of the yarn. Khadi/ Cotton is a very strong fiber. With the right care, Khadi softens beautifully with age. Here’s how to care for it:

Washing:

  • Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent.
  • Avoid long soaking; wash colors separately at first.

Drying:

  • Dry in shade, never wring.
  • Lay flat or hang in a ventilated space.

Ironing:

  • Iron while damp for best results.
  • Use medium heat (cotton Khadi) or low heat (silk Khadi).

Storage:

  • Store in muslin cloth, never plastic.
  • Refold occasionally to avoid creases.

RAW SILK

Wild silk such as tussar, matka, Ketya, processed and spun by hand, is usually characterized by irregular yarns creating a “slubby” or highly textured fabric, Lustre and sheen.

These silk tend to offer better sheen even after wash.

It's naturally a strong fiber and crease resistant but repeated exposure to the direct sunlight will erode the fiber.

It looses it's strength  when wet and therefore needs to be treated gently  during laundering.

Don't use  deodorant or pefumes directly on your silk clothes since it tends to stain immediately.

Pro Tip: Silk is a protein fiber—it reacts to sweat, deodorants, and perfumes. Always air out after wearing and avoid direct contact with harsh chemicals.
